Today in History: Charlotte Flair wins the Divas Championship

On this day in history:

September 20th, 2015 | After cementing herself as the longest reigning Divas Champion, Nikki Bella looked to continue her reign by defending her title in a match against second-generation Superstar Charlotte at Night of Champions. For much of the match, Nikki was in control, using an early knee tweak to her advantage, repeatedly punishing Charlotte with submissions and attacks. Nevertheless, Charlotte prevailed, overcoming a bad knee and excruciating pain to lock Nikki into the Figure Eight submission and force her to tap out. The new champion was joined in the ring by Becky Lynch, Paige and her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, as she hoisted the Divas Title, triumphant. Charlotte would go in the record books as the final Divas Champion as the title was retired at WrestleMania 32 with the introduction of the new Raw Women’s Championship.
