EVE announces Toni Storm vs. Jordynne Grace for SHEvivor Series

Pro Wrestling EVE announced a first-time ever match for their SHEvivor Series, featuring Toni Storm vs. Jordynne Grace.

Though the two wrestlers have worked together three separate times during their time at PROGRESS, this bout will be the first time the two have faced each other in a singles matchup.

Neither Grace nor Storm is new to EVE. Grace was pulled from the promotion’s SHE-1 Series in Sept. by TNA for a television appearance, replaced by Joshi legend Command Bolshoi. Grace also just missed grabbing the EVE International Championship, making it to the finals in Oct. before Viper was crowned winner. Storm made it to the SHE-1 finals, but was never pinned.

The match itself has no clear storyline leading to it, as EVE prefers to place emphasis on wins and losses as the determining factor for future events. However, with both wrestlers coming so close to the title in prior matches, both wrestlers are most likely looking for a win to put them back into the title race.

SHEvivor Series is the promotion’s last show of the year, and set to be their biggest ever roster event. The show is an important stop on the way to Wrestle Queendom 2, their huge May event. Earlier this year, the inaugural Wrestle Queendom snatched the record for the largest all-women show in Europe. During the first Wrestle Queendom, Jamie Hayter emerged as the “Ace of Eve” from the SHE-1 Series, making her mark on women’s wrestling.

As the leading women’s indie promotion out of the UK, EVE has a roster and alumni club that is stocked full of incredible talent, many who make their way up to NXT UK. This scheduled match, however, is turning out to be a sure fan favorite.

Toni took the WWE Universe by “storm”, when she defeated Io Shirai in the Mae Young Classic Tournament finals, aired during WWE Evolution. Storm had plenty of experience prior to that moment, though, working for NXT UK, PROGRESS, Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), EVE and British Empire Wrestling.

In the past year alone, Storm has grabbed the MYC win, two wXw Women’s Championships, the PROGRESS Women’s Championship, and the World of Stardom Championship. On Wednesday’s dual episode of NXT UK, Storm also placed in the finals of the NXT UK Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley.

Jordynne Grace has had her own whirlwind of a year. The eight-year veteran recently debuted at Impact and will make her PROGRESS UK debut No. 26 at PROGRESS Chapter 79: One Big Neck With Sausage Hands, slated to face Millie McKenzie and Isla Dawn. She’s held the BCP ICONS Championship, PWM Women’s Championship, BLP Heavyweight Championship, and WSU Spirit Championship.

SHEvivor Series will take place Saturday, Dec. 8 at Resistance Gallery in Bethnal Green, London. The action starts live at 8 p.m. GMT. Fans not able to make it to the event can watch SHEvivor Series, and other events, on EVE’s On-Demand service, starting shortly after the event’s end.
