Jazz vacates NWA World Women’s Championship

The National Wrestling Alliance announced today that women’s star wrestler Jazz unexpectedly vacated the NWA World Women’s Championship. The promotion made the announcement this morning via their Twitter account.

Jazz has held the title for 948 days, after she defeated Amber Gallows on Sept. 16, 2016, to become the first African-American woman to do so.

Later, the former champion provided an update and thanked her fans for their support. Apparently, Jazz needed to take a leave for personal and medical reasons. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious and she will return soon.

Fans may remember her time with ECW and WWE. She debuted with WWE in 2001 and the company released her three years later by in 2004. Jazz was WWE Women’s Champion back in 2002. In total, she was a two-time champion while she was with the company.

Altogether, spanning multiple wrestling promotions all over the world, she is a six-time women’s champion and a former WSU Tag Team Champion.

This was her first title reign with NWA. There has been no word as to why she vacated the title yet. According to the promotion, a new champion will be crowned this Saturday at Crockett Cup. Allysin Kay will compete for the vacant title against an opponent who will be named sometime this week.
