HAPPY PRIDE DIVA DIRTERS!
That’s right, it is June and that means for the next 30 days we get to celebrate extra hard about being ourselves every day! And because of that, every day here throughout the month we are going to spotlight one LGBTQ+ wrestler. These names are not going to be in any order. So this won’t be a countdown but more of just a highlight to celebrate.
We are going to start out strong though! The current, and record setting four-time and current AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm. Storm came out publicly as bisexual in 2021 while still with WWE. She is married to fellow AEW wrestler and former NXT talent Juice Robinson.
Storm is the biggest LGBTQ act currently in a major company and on screen. Her Timeless character is a retro throw back to the Hollywood Golden age starlet. It has been her most over character of her career and she incorporates her bisexual/queer identity in the character. She has been shown on screen lip locking with other women such as Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa.
The representation that Storm brings mainstream is a breath of fresh air for the LGBTQ community who is often not presented well in wrestling.
