The second ever Evolution premium live event is now over, but the incredible matches and moments will continue to be remembered for years to come. Arguably, some may say that this Evolution has surpassed the first one, but regardless of your particular feelings on that, what does the powers that be think of the event?
According to some scoops on the event from Fightful Select, sources in WWE believe that the event was a success and said that this likely will not be the last Evolution. However, the sources would not indicate a timetable on when another could happen. Or furthermore, if it would be a yearly event.
Other notes from the event include Naomi receiving a ton of cheering backstage after she cashed in and won the title from a number of both staff and talent. Kiana James and former WWE Diva Cherry were backstage.
It is expected that Trish Stratus will wrestle again this year in WWE. Fightful was told that WWE is also opened to having Nikki Bella work more after her creative had originally changed from the path set with Liv Morgan.
Those that Fightful spoke to were happy with NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne’s performance. She lost her voice after a spot in the match and Jordynne Grace was busted open, but both are said to be fine.
Triple H spoke on the event and its future on the Evolution post show media press conference.
“I don’t want to say it’s yearly, it’s not yearly. I think we see what that demand is for it,” he said. “Because as the demand for the women grows across the board every day, it becomes less about having their own show and more about…the equality, it’s all there. They don’t have to have their show to be in the spotlight. But if it works, we’ll definitely go down that road again. It’s a ‘we shall see.’
He continues, “I don’t know if it has to be a particular night for them to be inspired by the women, because I think the women do that every single Monday, Tuesday, Friday, whenever we have a PLE, wherever we’re having a Saturday Night’s Main Event. They’re role models, they’re inspiring people, they’re changing their lives. That sounds dramatic to some degree, but that is the kind of thing they do.”
Keep in mind, he says this for Saturday Night’s Main Event, but the one this weekend did not have a women’s match while the one before it had then-WWE Women’s United States Champion Zelina Vega facing Chelsea Green in a match that was announced last minute.
What were your thoughts on Evolution? Should this be a yearly event, or at least come back regularly?
