Mercedes Moné Retains Against Alex Windsor and Riho Makes Her Long Awaited Return

AEW returns once again to the 2300 Arena tonight, but this time with gold on the line.

After an unsuccessful attempt at the TBS Championship at Forbidden Door, Alex Windsor finally has her one-on-one match against “The CEO” Mercedes Moné for the title.

Moné underestimates Windsor in the beginning of the match and even eats a cannonball on the outside. It’s all Windsor until Moné catches her spilling to the outside and hits a powerbomb on the apron.

Windsor is more than determined to capture that TBS title tonight, but Moné desperately tries to make her statement towards Windsor. The CEO gets caught in a spinebuster, and both are winded as Windsor attempts to lock in a Sharpshooter from their position. They both roll to the floor and Windsor locks it in as Moné taps on the outside.

Both trade blows and both meet nearfalls. Moné desperately tries to make Windsor tap out with the Statement Maker, but her challenger refuses to. But, the damage has been done as Moné quickly snipes in a rollup to retain her title.

Post-match, Windsor goes after her Sharpshooter on Moné but gets met with another Statement Maker. Coming in to make the save is none other than Riho, who we haven’t seen since Moné’s debut at AEW Big Business. With the day saved, Riho takes one closer look at the TBS Championship.

We also catch up with the AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm, as she delivers her message inside the 2300 Arena. With the defeat of Athena, she looks for a new challenger, or rather, someone to play a new role.

Renee Paquette looks to catch up with Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander. The newly formed tag team is on a bit of a roll, but is soon interrupted by Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir of the Death Riders. Statlander confirms that she’s received Jon Moxley’s words of encouragement.
