IYO SKY continues to show her worth to the wresrling industry as she defeated Mayu Iwatani at the Sunday Marigold event, Grand Destiny. These two extraordinary talents had their first singles match in over seven years. Their last encounter ended in a draw.
The match on Sunday went over 26 minutes, if it had made it to 30, it would have been a draw. SKY won the match after a moonsault press.
In the post event press conference, SKY shared the following:
“That’s right. 26 minutes bell-to-bell, right? That’s 26 minutes purely of match time, not including entrances or exits. Well, it was a 30-minute one-fall match, so there was a possibility it could have ended in a draw, but… it might sound arrogant, but I showed the true strength of a woman who won at WrestleMania, standing on the world stage.”
Iwatani suggested the two of them team up once again to form ThunderRock. SKY responds –
“Well, just like I didn’t think this match would happen, but it did, in pro-wrestling, there’s no such thing as ‘never.’ So, I think it’s nice that the dream can continue, don’t you?”
