Willow Nightingale Wins Back The TBS Title, Mercedes Moné’s 584-Day Reign Is Over

Happy New Year’s Eve Diva Dirt! AEW Dynamite is live tonight with New Year’s Smash, and we look to see who will leave 2025 as the TBS Champion.

“Timeless” Toni Storm and Marina Shafir are involved in a New Year’s Eve Trios Tornado Tag Team Match tonight. Storm has had issues with Shafir after she laid out Shirakawa last week. The former AEW Women’s World Champion has brought along The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong, as Shafir has The Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli and Daniel Garcia in her corner.

Shafir shows that she’s not afraid of taking charge against Cassidy and Strong.

And it looks like Storm and Cassidy are getting along lovely, much to Shirakawa’s envy.

Unfortunately, as Storm is trying to lock in Castagnoli, she eats a boot from Garcia. Shafir tries to give Cassidy a taste of Mother’s Milk, but gets stopped and eats a backbreaker from Strong.

Storm gets her lick back and hits a hip attack on Castagnoli.  In the end, Castagnoli hits Swiss Death, and picks up the win alongside Shafir and Garcia.

The Triangle of Madness has a message for the locker room after the Sisters of Sin picked up a big win at World’s End. Thekla now turns her attention to the AEW Women’s World Champion, Kris Statlander.

The TBS Champion, “The CEO” Mercedes Moné, will defend her title tonight against the woman she won the title from, one-half of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, Willow Nightingale. Moné is currently the longest-reigning TBS Champion and is determined to keep that title locked in for 2026. But Nightingale is prepared to take the title back she lost 584 days ago.

Our main event and last match of 2025 starts off hot with Moné overwhelming Nightingale. Moné is letting out some of the rage she’s felt for a while now, but gets a bit too ahead of herself as Nightingale drives Moné into the barricade. Nightingale has all the momentum in the world on her side, until Moné sweeps her balance and sends her crashing into the steel steps.

Nightingale hits Babe with the Powerbomb, but Moné’s ring awareness saves her. Moné heads high-risk and attempts a Frog Splash, but Nightingale gets her knees up. Right on the apron, Nightingale drops Moné hard as Moné tries to retreat. Nightingale tries to hit a cannonball but crashes, and Moné tries to hit Three Amigos on the outside but gets stopped in her tracks.

Tempers flare as Nightingale props up the announcer’s table. Moné fights through as she suplexes Nightingale on the table and sends her crashing on the floor. Moné makes it back to the ring, and Nightingale barely makes it back in before the ten count.

The Statement Maker gets locked in, but Nightingale’s sheer strength powers through. Both try to find the pin, but ultimately Moné gets dropped with Babe With The Powerbomb and gets the 1-2-3. Nightingale has won the TBS Championship that she lost two years ago and is now the first-ever 2-time TBS Champion.

Harley Cameron, The Conglomeration, and even Statlander come to congratulate Nightingale as they ring in the new year!
