New Champions On Raw To Start 2026; Rodriguez Decimates Vaquer

Raw became Strange as we were in the Upside Down for the first show of 2026. The Stranger Things episode of Raw had a couple of championship changes.

To start, RhIYO are your new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. They ended the Kabuki Warriors reign at 56 days.

The final moments of the match had Ripley deliver the Riptide to Asuka, planting her in position for the Over The Moonsault from Sky. After SKY hit her finisher, she took out Sane with a suicide dive on the outside. Ripley secured the winning pinfall on Asuka to crown the new champions.

This title win makes SKY a three-time Women’s Tag Team Champion and Ripley a two-time.

Next, the Women’s Intercontinental Championship changed hands as well. Becky Lynch defeated Maxxine Dupri to become a two-time champion. The first woman to hold this belt twice. The final moments of the match had Dupri lock in the ankle lock on her rival. However, Lynch was able to get leverage and sit back to have Dupri with her shoulders down on the mat. Despite still being in the ankle lock, Lynch arched backwards and grabbed ahold of the ropes. This led to Dupri’s shoulders staying down for the three count.

Lynch celebrated on the ramp leaving Dupri shocked in the ring.

Prior to this match, Ivy Nile was backstage with Adam Pearce wanting another title shot. She said she refuses to be in the back of the line. Pearce told her they have to decide who the champion is first and then he will discuss it with her.

The Women’s World Champion, Stephanie Vaquer made her way to the ring for a segment. She had a walking boot on her foot, which was said to be an ankle injury that occurred in her match last week. In talking to Jackie Redmond, Vaquer said that the ankle injury will not stop her and she will continue to be champion. She also discussed her very impressive 2025.

After the interview was over, Raquel Rodriguez attacked Vaquer from behind targeting the injured ankle as well as landing the champion on the mat with a Tejana Bomb. Rodriguez went for a chair to use it on Vaquer’s ankle in attempts to completely shatter it, but officials came out to stop her just in time.

Moments later as medical was trying to get Vaquer to some help, Rodriguez attacked her again. Pearce appeared with officials and told Rodriguez to leave or she would be fined until she has nothing left.

Lastly, we had a match between Lyra Valkyria and Liv Morgan. This was Morgan’s first televised match in seven months as she returned from injury in November. Morgan would score a win off of ObLIVion.

The final moments had Roxanne Perez catch Valkyria in the ropes and dump her to the floor on the outside. This prompted Bayley to chase Perez to the back with a steel chair. Valkyria was distracted by this and Morgan took advantage.
