Marina Shafir has been receiving a lot more TV time in AEW over the past year. Whether it beinf Jon Moxley’s heavy, participating in the first women’s Blood And Guts match, or participating with Megan Bayne for the inaugural tag team belts — Shafir has been creating buzz for herself.
Shafir spoke with Renee Paquette recently on Close Up. She discusses her character and what she feels she brings to the AEW women’s division.
“I’m not a flashy, flippy toy. I’m a fucking G.I. Jane fucking character. I’m just very different from the rest of the roster and I needed to understand that that was special in itself and just learning how to fortify that and not just completely go left and start doing shit that I’m not good at.
I’m good at fucking people up. I’m just good at fucking people up. I’m good at standing my fucking ground, and I’ve always wanted to draw something out of the women that was feral and messy and dirty. I feel like that is my purpose here.”
Shafir faced Toni Storm on the Jan. 7 episode of Dynamite. The match ended in a DQ, favoring Storm.
