Black History Month Spotlight: Trish Adora

Throughout the month of February, Diva Dirt will spotlight one Black women’s wrestler a day. This won’t be a countdown, but just a way to shine light on the past and present Black women of the industry. With that said, these daily articles will not be in any particular order.

Representation matters to marginalized groups, and here at Diva Dirt we focus on giving those individuals the recognition they deserve.

For February 13, we’re highlighting Trish Adora. It’s especially fitting that we began Black History Month with Jacqueline , as Adora has named her as one of her inspirations. Before entering the ring, Adora served eight years in the United States military, and in 2015 she began her wrestling training at the 3D Academy under the guidance of The Dudley Boyz.

In 2020, Adora became the first Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling World Champion. She held the gold for over 1,300 days. Adora is currently signed under AEW and is mostly seen on its ROH programming. Not currently being used to her full potential, Adora was first brought into ROH prior to AEW’s purchase of the promotion. She participated in the ROH Women’s World Title tournament to crown a first champion, which at the time was won by Rok-C (Roxanne Perez). She later participated in the tournament to crown the first ROH Women’s World TV Champion.

Over the past few years, although still appearing in ROH, Adora has worked a few shows in Japan. Specifically for the TJPW and NJPW promotions.

Adora’s on-screen gimmick mimics her military background. She exudes Black Excellence, and despite not being a prime player in AEW…she should be.
