AEW announces new signings and six-woman tag match

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Joshi wrestler, Riho, signed a five-show deal with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Kenny Omega confirmed the signing today on Being the Elite. Fans can expect to see her wrestle next Saturday at Double or Nothing.

Meltzer suggested Riho “wants to see how she likes working in the United States before she commits to a longer deal.” The 21-year-old will join Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki, Emi Sakura, Hiraku Shida, and Riyo Mizunami in a six-woman tag match—the second women’s match on the card.

Emi Sakura and Riyo Mizunami are both new signings. It’s unclear if they signed deals similar to Riho’s or what they’re official status is. Notably, Sakura trained Riho, who wrestled for her promotion —Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling.

Kong and Sakazaki were both a part of an announcement at the AEW Double or Nothing Ticket Party. Shida joined them a little over a month ago.

With that said, it’s good to see another match featuring women added to the show. One of the few criticisms of All In was that women were only represented in one match on the main card. To be fair, Jordynne Grace’s appearance in the Over the Budget Battle Royal was also a highlight, but it was on the pre-show.
