AEW Women’s Championship match set for next week’s Dynamite

AEW Women’s World Champion, Hikaru Shida will defend her title against Big Swole on next week’s edition of AEW Dynamite.

This will be Shida’s third title defence in her 100+ day championship reign. The match will take place and AEW’s one-year anniversary edition for the company’s flagship show.

Big Swole will be raring to go for the biggest match of her AEW career thus far. Swole comes into the title match off the back of a tremendous performance this week.

Big Swole had an absolute banger of a match with Serena Deeb this past Wednesday.

Deeb and Big Swole are two highly-skilled wrestlers and it certainly showed here as they put on a brilliant match.

This was a great back and forth match. Deeb’s excellent technical wrestling skills were on another level throughout the match. Deeb would work over Swole’s leg with a nasty Dragon screw and ground her to the mat with submission holds. Deeb would out-wrestle Swole every step of the way, controlling the pace and the match.

Swole countered Deeb’s in-ring prowess with her strength and striking ability and was able to use it to her advantage. Swole caught Deeb with a load of elbows, forearms and lariats. She would miss a roundhouse kick but plant Deeb with a wince-inducing headbutt.

Big Swole would would manage to catch Deeb with Dirty Dancing for a well-deserved and hard-fought victory.

This was the best AEW women’s match since All Out. Deeb and Swole took what time they were allocated and made the most of it.

In just two matches Serena Deeb has proved herself to be one of the best signings for AEW women’s division. An experienced veteran wrestler and trainer, Deeb will be vital both in and out of the ring.

One recurring criticism of AEW’s women’s division has been the lack of time and build their matches are given. Big Swole challenging Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s World Championship does feel thrown together. But judging by Big Swole’s tweet below she doesn’t care about that.

Despite the lack of storyline and build the match should be a great competition given the two competitors involved. And if the match gets the right amount of time it deserves, then we are in for a treat.
