AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch will happen at least one more time as the two are set to battle for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42. The match was confirmed after the two had words on the March 23 episode of Raw.
Lynch took to the ring first. She explained her absence since losing the belt to Lee at Elimination Chamber last month. Before Lee came out to confront Lynch, Lynch had some strong words to say about Lee’s past in the Divas division.
“She mastered the Divas era. Well, I murdered the Divas era. I put a stake through its heart, its butterfly-belted wings, and ripped them off.”
After Lee made her entrance, Lynch backed off into the crowd. Lee to the bait and issued the challenge, stating she would defend her title against Lynch at WrestleMania. She added that she would defeat Lynch decisively once again and make her submit, proving that she is the best of her generation, Lynch’s generation, and the next one. Lee also took a personal jab, claiming she is even the favorite wrestler of Lynch’s daughter.
Lynch reminded Lee what happened the day after the last time she wrestled at WrestleMania. She walked away from the ring for nearly a decade.
Elsewhere on Raw, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria faced The Kabuki Warriors in a women’s tag team match, with the winners earning a future shot at the tag team titles. Bayley and Valkyria secured the victory after Valkyria pinned Kairi Sane.
The finish came after chaos on the outside, where Bayley attempted an elbow drop onto Sane on the announce table, but Sane avoided it. Bayley instead connected with a Bayley-to-Belly on Asuka on the table. Back in the ring, Valkyria delivered Nightwing to Sane to seal the win.
After the match, Bayley and Valkyria issued a challenge to The Irresistible Forces for a title match next week in New York at MSG.
Later on, Asuka and Sane were backstage. Asuka continued to take her anger out on Sane before walking away. IYO SKY approached Sane and let her know that even though they’ve had their differences, how Asuka is treating her isn’t right. As KAIRI! gets called away, Raquel Rodriguez steps up to SKY. She blames he for getting involved in her match last week which saw Stephanie Vaquer win. Next week, Rodriguez and SKY will go one-on-one.
Ahead of the men’s IC Title match between Penta and Dominik Mysterio, Vaquer attacked Liv Morgan on the stage. After throwing her into the LED board, Vaquer took the attack to Morgan backstage.
