Athena Says She’s Given The World To ROH, But She Wants AEW Gold

Since 2022, Athena has held the title of ROH Women’s World Champion. She secured the championship by defeating Mercedes Martinez at the end of that year, and her reign is now approaching 1,400 days.

There have been comments made previously by Athena that she would like to be in AEW more. Although she has appeared and had title matches in AEW, she has not been a permanant fixture.

While speaking with The Dallas Morning News, Athena had the following to say –

“I feel like I’ve given the world to Ring of Honor. I’ve given years of my career being the ‘forever’ ROH champion. I’ve given so much to be the longest reigning champion in the modern day era, the most violent champion of the era. But when it comes to me, I want to do more with AEW. So this means more.

I want to be AEW women’s champion. I want to be AEW TBS champion. I want to be an AEW tag champion to show the world that everything that I’ve done, holding a whole company on my back, climbing to the top of the mountain with it, was all worth it.”

Athena last successfully defended the against Hazuki at Death Before Dishonor in August. She has defended the gold a total of 38 times to date.
