Black History Month Spotlight: Fire ‘N Flava

Throughout the month of February, Diva Dirt will spotlight one (or more) Black women’s wrestler a day. This won’t be a countdown, but just a way to shine light on the past and present Black women of the industry. With that said, these daily articles will not be in any particular order.

Representation matters to marginalized groups, and here at Diva Dirt we focus on giving those individuals the recognition they deserve.

For Feb. 17, we are going to talk about one of the most dominant teams in TNA history, Fire ‘N Flava.

Fire ‘N Flava was a dynamic tag team in Impact Wrestling (known as TNA again today), consisting of Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz. As singles competitors, both women at times felt without clear direction, but together they found undeniable chemistry and momentum. Though their partnership lasted only about a year and a half, they quickly rose to the top of the Knockouts tag team division.

In 2020, Impact revived the Knockouts World Tag Team Championships after the titles had been inactive since 2013. A tournament was held to crown new champions, and in early 2021, Fire ‘N Flava emerged victorious by defeating Havok and Nevaeh in the finals. With that win, they made history as the first, and still only, Black tag team to capture the Knockouts tag titles. The duo would go on to hold the championships twice.

Their alliance came to an end after their second reign, when Savannah Evans attacked Hogan and aligned herself with Steelz, officially dissolving the team.

Following the split, Hogan departed Impact and signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), continuing her career as a singles wrestler. She is currently not signed to a major promotion. Meanwhile, Steelz remained with TNA and later captured the Knockouts World Championship, further cementing her success within the company. She is currently a member of the Order 4 stable with Mustafa Ali as its leader.
