In a recent interview with Deadline, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, and Britney Young discussed what to expect in the second season.
“The first season was all about training. In Season 2, it’s all about shooting the show GLOW,” said Brie. “We’re dressed in our wrestling characters almost all of every episode. It’s a lot more behind the scenes of the making of the show. There’s more on the production side and much less about learning how to wrestle.”
“There’s a lot more wrestling,” added Gilpin about next season, with Noel giving it the three B’s: “Bigger. Better. Badder.”
They also said doing their own wrestling stunts was empowering.
“It’s such a proud feeling to be like, ‘No, I want to go out there and do this for the shot and for these girls.’ GLOW is a team sport. We do it just as much for each other as we do for ourselves,” Young said.
The series so far has been nominated for numerous awards and won two this year – receiving an Art Directors Guild Award for Best Half Hour Single-Camera Television Series and a Satellite Award for Best Musical or Comedy Series.
GLOW premieres on Netflix June 29.
