IYO SKY Slays Her Senpai At Backlash, Asuka Gets Emotional Post Match

In a match that fans were desiring to happen at WrestleMania stole the show on Saturday at Backlash in Tampa.

IYO SKY defeated her Senpai Asuka in what will be a match of the year candidate. The match had a lot of passion that was expected between two women who go back so far in their history both in wrestling and life. Two of the biggest acts in WWE gave the crowd a show in a match that almost reached 20 minutes.

The only thing missing was Kairi Sane. Despite the crowd in Tampa chanting We Want Kairi multiple times through the match, sadly the talent is officially gone from WWE.

A turning point of the match was when the duo were on the announce table with evil intentions for Asuka. However, SKY knew what her Senpai was up to and blocked the mist with Wade Barrett’s notebook. This changed the course of the match and had SKY mostly in control. After Asuka moved out of the way from one Over the Moonsault, SKY did connect with a second to get the win.

Post match, Asuka would stand and get emotional by crying in the ring. She pulled SKY in for an embrace showing the respect of the former student surpassing the teacher.
