IYO SKY vs. Asuka will finally be going one-on-one at Backlash in Tampa. The premium live event takes place on May 9.
On the April 27 episode of Raw, SKY answered an open challenge set by the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch. Despite SKY looking to become champion and dethrone Lynch this quickly after WrestleMania, Asuka emerged. Asuka swept the feet out from under SKY on the ring apron unbeknownst to the referee.
Lynch took advantage and hit the ManHandle Slam to secure the win and retain. Asuka would lock in the Asuka Lock after the match until the official could get her separated from SKY. The crowd chanted We Want Kairi but WWE doesn’t care. Kairi Sane is no longer with the company since Friday’s departure.
