Izzi Dame has been crowned the new NXT Women’s North American Champion as she defeated Thea Hail at New Year’s Evil.
The show started out with Blake Monroe set to be the challenger to Hail after the controversial win by Hail just a few weeks ago. Hail taking the title off of Monroe wasn’t the plan which allowed Monroe to have a rematch. However, Monroe was only seeing red as she attacked Hail before the match as the two clashed through the barricade.
Questioning whether or not a Women’s North American Championship match was still on the card, Ava let Hail know that Monroe was removed from the building. As for Hail, she was medically cleared, and though not at 100% she wanted to give an open challenge. Not the smartest move.
Hail went to the ring for her match saying she had something to prove. She was determined to give the fans a title match, so she issued the open challenge. The locker room emptied out, including Tatum Paxley with her chainsaw. Before Paxley could get in the ring, it was Izzi Dame who snuck in. Shawn Spears and Niko Vance made sure a referee was in the ring and the bell was rung. It can be noted that Paxley defeated Dame earlier in the night.
The final moments of the match had both women on the top turnbuckle. Hail was trying to lock in her submission, but it was Dame who delivered the Dame Over to get the pin and win her first championship.
