Just two nights removed from retaining her championship at Battleground against Jordynne Grace, Stephanie Vaquer is no longer the NXT Women’s Champion. On the May 27 episode of NXT, in the main event, Jacy Jayne defeated Vaquer to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. This ends Vaquer’s reign at 78 days, and Jayne becomes the 20th woman to hold the NXT Women’s Championship since its inception 12 years ago.
With Jazmyn Nyx back on screen, Fatal Influence was in full force during this match. It seemed as though the trio weren’t on the same page…or is that what they wanted us to believe? Over the past few weeks, Jayne and Fallon Henley have certainly been at odds, arguing. However, the trio came together when it counted.
The final moments of the match saw Vauqer with Jayne in the ropes as Nyx distracted the referee. Henley would provide a kick to Vauqer, breaking the hold in the ropes. Jayne clobbered Vaquer with an elbow to knock her down and get the three count to become the new champion. Even the ring announcer, Mike Rome, was stunned before announcing Jayne as the winner.
This is Jayne’s first singles title in NXT, and she has waited four years for it. She is a former two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion with Gigi Dolin. Fatal Influence had once held the NXT Women’s North American Title around the waist of Henley.
