Title Change In Shocking Main Event! Jaida Parker Triumphs While Tatum Paxley Unravels

Good evening everyone and Phonie’s coming to you fast after a shocking ending to tonight’s episode of NXT! After successfully defending her title against Jordynne Grace at Battleground, Stephanie Vaquer defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Fatal Attraction’s Jacy Jayne in tonight’s main event!!

We opened with Ava Raine confronting NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer backstage. The demand? Find a partner for a tag match against Chik Tormenta and Dalys in Los Angeles for World’s Collide! Vaquer, ever the fighting champ, wants to defend her title first—but before it can escalate, Lola Vice slides in like she’s been waiting in catering for this exact moment and volunteers! I like the pairing though and Stephanie needs friends as we’ll find out later tonight.

Jaida Parker vs. Tatum Paxley

Jaida Parker and Tatum Paxley opened with a classic collar-and-elbow tie-up, but things got unhinged fast. Tatum cornered Parker with a flurry of haymakers, then took her on a whirlwind tour of the turnbuckles via butterfly suplex. Jaida countered with a corner lungblower that looked downright mean.

Parker stayed in control with a slingshot seated senton and a kneeling surfboard that looked more painful than effective, but Tatum dug deep—stringing together an O’Connor roll, a facebreaker, enzuigiri, and a picture-perfect somersault axe kick into a dropkick that sent Jaida to the outside.

Unfortunately, Jaida went full sports entertainment by chucking one of Tatum’s dolls into the ring. Paxley, overcome with grief, dropped to her knees and clutched her fallen comrades giving Jaida just enough time to capitalize on the mournful distraction to hit Tatum with a hip attack

Winner: Jaida Parker via pinfall

Post-match, Thea Hail made a surprise return and charged the ring leveling Jaida, sending her scrambling while Tatum looked on, unsure whether to cry or smile.

Later backstage, Tatum crossed paths with Sol Ruca and Zaria. They offered some vaguely heartwarming extension of…friendship? The Culling ominously strolled by in the background maybe trying to be subtle? Idk but I’m good with this storyline.

Jacy Jayne vs. Stephanie Vaquer for the NXT Women’s Championship

Vaquer launched out of the gate with furious strikes, a rolling solebutt, and a snap legsweep into a one-count cover. Jayne answered with kicks and a nearfall of her own before we got our first taste of chaos—Dalys and Chik Tormenta ran in to disrupt, but Lola Vice neutralized them early on in the match.

Jayne goes in with a roll up, but Vaquer recovered with a tiger feint kick and springboard elbow for two. Coming back from commercial, Jayne took over with a sling blade and a running boot, but couldn’t keep La Primera down for long. Vaquer landed a dragon screw and sent Jacy to the outside.

Vaquer nailed a butterfly inverted Codebreaker (which was both gorgeous and devastating at the same time) then Fallon Henley ran interference. Jacy got launched. Fatal Influence bickered ringside. Jazmyn Nyx tried playing therapist, only to get shoved down for her trouble. Vaquer dove onto the whole crew with a crossbody like she was done with the drama.

Back inside, Vaquer hit a back suplex and went for Devil’s Kiss, then locked in a rope-hung cross armbar. But Fallon kicked her through the ropes (literally) while Jazmyn had the referee distracted at ringside! Jacy, still dizzy manages to connect with a rolling elbow that landed flush! Jayne covers Vaquer and to everyone’s shock!…

Winner: Jacy Jayne via pinfall to become the new NXT Women’s Champion

Crowd reactions ranged from stunned silence to “is this really happening?” Mike Rome and the rest of commentary let the moment breathe as Jacy clutched the title like she hadn’t entirely believed she’d win it either.

While I know this title win is incredibly shocking, this also does feel like a shift in NXT Women’s Division. I was saying in the live thread, Jordynne Grace, Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia didn’t need much “development” if any. So if this if this is signaling towards a call up for all three, then I’m really happy with this direction. Jacy Jayne getting this ball to run with is downright shocking, but in no way undeserved. I’m really excited to see what Jacy is going to do with this reign, and the next era it seems like we’re stepping into. Sound off in the comments everyone!
