Jamie Hayter Retains AEW Women’s Title In Dynamite Main Event

Jamie Hayter remains the AEW Women’s World Champion after an impressive first title defense against Hikaru Shida. Hayter won the title at Full Gear in November after defeating Toni Storm.

Shida, a former champion herself, attempted to become the first two-time AEW Women’s World Champion by going after Hayter. This match took place in the main event of the Dec. 21 Dynamite Holiday Bash episode. Shida earned this title match after defeating The Bunny previously on the Dec. 7 episode of Rampage.

Hayter came into this match wanting a slugfest and that is exactly what we saw. Both women laid it all on the line and the crowd was fully behind this match. The final moments of the match had Rebel distract the referee on one side of the ring while Dr. Britt Baker had Shida’s kendo stick. Shida was able to right off Baker and refocus back on Hayter and the women’s title.

The final sequence had Hayter pull out everything in her arsenal as Shida kicked out several times before a ripcord kept her down for the count of three. Hayter retains and post-match with the help of Rebel and Baker beatdown on Shida.

Toni Storm’s music hits and she comes racing in for the save. Hayter knocks her down with the championship belt which leads to Saraya joining the fray. Saraya rushes to the ring and lays out Baker with a kick.

Shida, Storm, and Saraya stand tall in the ring as Hayter, Baker, and Rebel retreat on the ramp.

Set for Rampage this Friday will be the TBS Champion Jade Cargill going against VertVixen in a Championship Eliminator Match.
