Kairi Sane reportedly leaving WWE to return to Japan

Since last year there have been rumblings that Kairi Sane was going to part ways with WWE. The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion tied the knot earlier this year and she will be returning to Japan. the Wrestling Observer originally mentioned last November that Sane was exploring other avenues outside of WWE. At that time there was little information known, however, now there seems to be a more concrete answer as Sane is expected to leave once her contract is up.

Sane’s last in-ring appearance was the June 1 episode of RAW. She faced Nia Jax and during that taping, she was injured after being driven into the steel steps. The match was edited to remove the injury and Jax quickly rolled her back in the ring to pick up the win. Sane hasn’t been seen and barely spoken about since.

According to the report, she is cleared for action and will be a part of the upcoming tapings.

Prior to this injury with Jax, it is being mentioned that Sane’s write off from the company was supposed to be a career-ending injury storyline. This was supposed to play out with perhaps Charlotte Flair or Shayna Baszler. It wouldn’t have been Jax.

From this, the set up would have been whoever was chosen for this storyline would end up facing Asuka at SummerSlam for the RAW Women’s Title. This idea may no longer occur due to Paul Heyman’s departure from his position.

Once returning to Japan she is rumored wrestle for one more year and then retire.

WWE nor Sane herself has confirmed this at the time of this writing.
