Despite being ‘fired’, WWE still had Kelly Kelly make a public appearance this past week at the WrestleMania 28 press conference in Miami.
At the event, Kelly spoke to the Miami Herald on her star turn on SmackDown last week, when she main evented the show and helped Edge retain the World Heavyweight Championship. On that pivotal moment she said:
“I think the match we just had is one of the first main events the girls have been a part of, probably within the last 10 years,” Kelly said.
“So it was really cool to do that and finally have a main event match and be at the beginning of the show with [acting WWE SmackDown GM] Vickie [Guerrero]. They put a lot of effort into me and my character lately. It has been great. I hope they continue to spotlight the divas more.”
Though she’s currently ‘fired’ on television, Kelly revealed that when she returns, she’d love to go for the Divas Championship:
“I hope to win a championship because I have never had a title,” Kelly said. “That would be a dream of a lifetime.”

Thoughts: Last week’s Kelly-centric SmackDown certainly opened a lot of fans’ eyes to the double-named Diva. Kelly was given a juicy role throughout the show, something she could really sink her teeth into, and delivered. The crowd reactions for K2 during the main event showed just how much fans were behind her last week. Based on her efforts last week in the ring and in her promo, I wouldn’t mind seeing Kelly being the given opportunity to be in the Divas Title picture. In fact, it would even be wise of WWE to capitalize on her recent momentum.
