In a video put together by Justin Flowers of ESPN SEC Network titled SEC to WWE, both Lash Legend and Bianca Belair were highlighted as former SEC (Southeastern Conference) athletes turned WWE Superstars. The video shows the backgrounds of both Legend as part of the WNBA and Belair in Track and Field. When Legend started thinking about becoming a WWE Superstar she would soon find out she wasn’t the only SEC college athlete who was in the company.
The full video can be found in Legend’s post below.
“When I first got signed, I would just see her on TV and I would just be like, ‘wow that’s amazing,” she is so inspirational and I want to be an inspiration similar to how she’s been an inspiration to everybody and to Black women like myself,” says Legend.
Belair states, “It’s amazing to be a woman and be a female athlete at that and be a trailblazer. People ask, ‘what more do women need to do?’ We don’t need to do anything more. We just need those opportunities because when we get those opportunities we show up and we show out.”
In the video, you will also see Matt Bloom the head trainer of the WWE Performance Center about both women and their accomplishments so far in WWE. Bloom states that Legend dares to be different and she saw Belair and busted the door open to show everybody that she is there.
