The longest reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion and former Ms. Money in the Bank Bayley has been sidelined with an injury for almost exactly one full year.
On July 9 of 2021, it was announced by WWE that Bayley had suffered an ACL injury that would have her out for at least nine months. She was removed from the Money in the Bank pay-per-view last year as she was gearing up for an “I Quit” match with then-SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Belair instead faced Carmella on the SmackDown before MITB with the gold on the line.
All eyes are on Bayley for making a possible return at tonight’s Money in the Bank event. According to a report from Fightful Select, Bayley has been preparing for an in ring return according to their WWE sources. She has been working in the ring and has been teasing on social media pretty regularly that it is coming. An exact timetable was not disclosed.
The same sources told Fightful that as of Friday night, Bayley was not in Las Vegas for where Money in the Bank is taking place this evening. However, a significant portion of the roster hadn’t made it in by then as they had to perform at SmackDown. So perhaps she arrived today if she is making her return.
Bayley has a lot of unfinished business with Belair and history with Carmella. Her returning tonight to either involve herself with their match or potentially the seven-woman Money in the Bank match is certainly not out of the realm of possibilities. Below is a Twitter exchange between Bayley and Becky Lynch in regard to Bayley picking Liv Morgan as this year’s Ms. Money in the Bank.
What do you think? Do you think that Bayley will reappear tonight? If not will she be on Raw or SmackDown in the coming week?
