It’s the first pay-per-view of the year for TNA Wrestling, and some fresh faces and warriors look to make their impact on TNA Genesis.
Tonight, we meet Vicious Vicki Venuto, and she runs into The Diamond Collective. Venuto tries to shake hands, but they do nothing but give her a hard time. Indi Hartwell arrives and diffuses the situation as she welcomes Venuto to the locker room.
The match is officially announced on the Countdown to Genesis with Tessa Blanchard and Mila Moore taking on Venuto and Hartwell. The Elegance Brand will have front row seats to this match, alongside their new Mr. Elegance.
The match finds Venuto trying to find her feet against the more experienced Diamond Collective. Venuto finds an opening to take Blanchard out of the ring and gets the hot tag out to Hartwell. Just as Hartwell and Venuto are about to close it out, Victoria Crawford gets involved, and Venuto gets caught up on the top rope.
Hartwell unfortunately runs into The Elegance Brand, and things get physical as they drag her away from her partner. Blanchard hits the Buzzsaw DDT on Venuto and picks up the win.
Knockouts action on the main show opens up with Mara Sadé, as she takes on Ryan Nemeth. For months, the two have been exchanging superkicks back and forth. Tonight, they meet one-on-one in an intergender match to settle the score once and for all.
Nemeth doesn’t take Sadé seriously, but Sadé is quick to show that she’s not playing around as she levels Nemeth with a crossbody to the outside. Nemeth trips her up on the ropes and continues to taunt her, but he eats a slap for his troubles. She fights back and hits a Tornado DDT on the rope, only for a two count.
Sadé hits a Slingblade and heads to the top rope, but eats a dropkick from Nemeth. Nemeth rolls her up with some leverage from the ropes and gets the win.
Next up, the TNA Knockouts World Championship is on the line as the champion, Lei Ying Lee, defends her title against NXT’s Zaria. Dani Luna was scheduled to challenge for the title tonight, but is no longer able to due to visa issues. Last Impact, Zaria took up the open challenge and tonight looks to obtain the gold with Sol Ruca at her side. To even the odds, Lee will have her Angel Warriors partner, Xia Brookside, in her corner.
It’s a test of strength vs striker here, and Zaria overpowers Lee by hanging her up on the ropes and locking in a Cloverleaf. Lee is worn down and attempts to lock in a submission of her own with an STF.
Lee manages to wear down Zaria herself by swinging punches in the corner. The champ shows off her strength with an Exploder Suplex, but only lands a two-count. Lee locks in a sleeper, but Zaria cannonballs her way out of it. Zaria and Lee land on the apron, and Zaria suplexes Lee’s back onto the hardest part of the ring.
Zaria hits the Spear and hits the Tornado Facebuster, only to knock out the referee. Heather and M By Elegance make their appearance. But, Ruca and Brookside look to put a stop to it and send them packing to the back.
The referee gets back up on her feet, as the two are left fighting in the ring. They both go up to the top rope, and Lee hits a Hurricanrana on Zaria. Lee and Zaria trade blows, but Lee hits Thunderstruck followed by Warrior’s Way to successfully defend her title.
Zaria shows her sign of respect, but it soon gets interrupted as Elayna Black eyes out the Knockouts Title.
Later on in the night, “The Suit” Daria Rae interrupts the entire panel present and introduces herself to the Dallas crowd. She tells them to shut up, and Dallas tells her the same as they proceed with the main event of the night.
