Hello everyone, Happy Holidays! Welcome to the Honor Club. On Thursday Night, during Boxing Day Brawl, we had the debut of the newly signed talent, Toni Storm.
Plus, The Longest Reigning Women’s Champion, Athena, will be having an Emergency M.E.M Minion EXPULSION Meeting!
First, AEW Newest signee, Toni Storm, made her debut in ROH facing indy talent Rebecca Scott. Coming fresh from her Christmas win against Vendetta’s Taya Valkirie, Toni went out to the ring, wearing her signature colors, red, white and black with a pretty cool, leather fringe jacket, along with her black eye patch and a snapback.
Her opponent, Rebecca Scott, an alleged flight attendant, was already in the ring, dressed in black. They both honored the code of honor by shaking hands to start the match.
Toni took control early on, only for Rebecca to try to pin her a couple of times. After failing to hit her famous hip attack, Rebecca retaliated with some forearms and kicks.
Toni caught Scott after a diving crossbody from the second rope, and did a swinging backbreaker, followed by a german suplex, then she did her hip attack only to finish her with Storm Zero. Post match, Toni shaked her defeated opponent’s hand once again, and she rocked her way happily to the back.
Later in the night we had a little recap of the main event at Final Battle, in which Athena defeated once again her minion, number 400,237 and three quaters, Billie Starkz.
Already in the ring, Lexy Nair introduced first, the loser, Billie Starkz, followed by the winner and Longest Reign ROH Women’s Champion, the Fallen Goddess, Athena.
Athena took the mic and described both of her minions to everyone in attendance stating that Billie had failed all the teaching that she had taught her, while she stated that her minion bestie, Lexy, was the first graduate from MIT.
After a dramatic pause, the Minion Overlod turned her back on Lexy, she explained that she did not appear with her penguin outfit to complement Athenas Two Faces cosplay, and also blamed her for almost making her lose her title after failing her attempt attack with a mic during her match. Announcing that she and Billie would be together forever!
Athena tells Lexy to not embarrass her while she leaves the ring. She hugs Billie. They both made their way back as Athena looked happy and evil as ever, while Billies was surprised and disappointed as hell.
Although I do not consider ROH as a lesser brand nor the title to be less important than the other AEW titles, I personally like how they are playing the idea of Toni Storm being new and starting from zero.
I was surprised like everyone else when Athena retained. I do not know what the plan is, but maybe they are building up towards the Texas Show. I could see them doing a title vs title match against Mercedes Moné, but only time will tell.
