WWE Legends & Future Greats (LFG) debuted on A&E, and 16 hopefuls are attempting to get an NXT contract. Their mentors will be one of four legends: Mickie James, Booker T, The Undertaker, and Bubba Ray Dudley. Each legend will have four upstarts to put their full attention into.
The show started with the 16 individuals running drills in the ring as the mentors looked on. This is followed by each one delivering a promo and receiving feedback while fighting to be the first one to have a match.

Men
- Shiloh Hill

- Chris Island
- Elijah Holyfield
- Troy Yearwood
The two matches which took place in this first episode came from the Performance Center. Future episodes will have matches in the NXT arena. The matches decided by the mentors were Tyra Mae Steele vs. Dani Raye and Shiloh Hill vs. Anthony Luke. The women went second, but the mentors overall agreed that they showed more charisma and even outperformed the men.
Steele won the match for the women and Luke won for the men. Both Steele and Luke were selected as the better in their respective matches overall. This means they have to select their mentors. Steele chose The Undertaker while Luke chose Booker T.
