It’s taken three months of nail-biter polls and heated discussions, but Diva Dirt readers have finally crowned WWE Raw’s new Diva of the Decade: four-time Women’s Champion Lita.
The tournament was conducted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Trish Stratus being named Raw’s Diva of the Decade in 2003. Diva Dirt looked at the years since then–2003 to 2013–to crown Trish’s successor.
In the final round of voting in the Raw’s New Diva of the Decade tournament, Lita took on Mickie James, the very woman who defeated Lita in her retirement match. Lita came out on top this time, but narrowly: with 1,365 votes cast, Lita earned 703 votes (52%) to Mickie’s 662 (49%).
Over 15,000 votes were cast over four rounds in the quest to crown Raw’s new Diva of the Decade. Throughout the polling period, old rivalries were reignited, achievements were analyzed and fans demonstrated their passion. When it was all said and done, though, Lita stood alone.
The 16 finalists were selected based on fans’ suggestions, leading to a voting period over the course of four rounds.
To reach the finals, Lita had to overcome competition from Beth Phoenix, Victoria, arch rival Trish Stratus and, finally, Mickie James.
Congratulations to Lita on the hard-earned victory!
