Lola Vice is the new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship as she will try to win back the title that Kendal Grey took off of her.
On the July 14 episode of NXT, there was a number one contender match for the NXT Women’s Title to determine who would be Grey’s next opponent. Grey has defended her title successfully one time so far against Nattie. The participants in the match were Vice, Kelani Jordan, and Kali Armstrong. This was the main event of the night.
The final moments of the match had Jordan and Armstrong exchanging some rolled up pins for the count of two. Armstrong went for a powerslam to Jordan, but Jordan countered it into an inside cradle pin that was so close to three that even commentary and the crowd thought it was a three count.
Jordan continued giving it to Armstrong as Vice entered back into the fray. Jordan ducked out of a backfist meant for her as Vice connected it with Armstrong instead. A springboard elbow took down Vice from Jordan which led Jordan to climbed up top. Jordan landed a 450 splash onto Armstrong, but Vice landed a roundhouse kick to Jordan. This left Vice pinning Armstrong for the win.
Elsewhere on this week’s NXT, Zaria defended her NXT Women’s North American Title. Her originally opponent was planned to be Layla Diggs, who won a number one contender match last week in a Fatal Four-way. In that number one contender match was Lizzy Rain, Izzi Dame, and Thea Hail. She injured herself over the weekend at an NXT Live event and was pulled from her opportunity.
This decision left Zaria without an opponent, and Robert Stone stated he would fix that and the champion would still defend. She would have to defend in her own Fatal Four-way against Rain, Dame, and EVOLVE Women’s Champion, Nikkita Lyons. Lyons new faction mates Nattie and Karmen Petrovic attempted to help her during the match, but Jaida Parker came out to stop it from happening.
Zaria tossed Lyons back in the ring and pinned her to retain after hitting a spear and an F-5.
