Lyra Valkyria Helps Bayley Steal A Win; IYO SKY Decimated By Cargill

WrestleMania is almost here and Bayley pinned one-half of the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions – Lash Legend. On the April 6 episode of Raw, Bayley and Legend went one-on-one, and shockingly we had a match result that didn’t end in a disqualification or no contest.

The match did wind up with Nia Jax interfering when she could. This led to Lyra Valkyria launching herself off the steel steps into Jax. Jax caught her however and slammed her into the ring apron. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss joined in out the ringside fight. Flair kept smacking Jax with her jacket as Bliss jumped on the back of Jax. Bayley hit a high risk crossbody to wipe out the field on the outside.

Eventually, back in the ring, Legend was trying to get a superplex on Bayley. Bayley shift her weight as Valkyria went to grab the boot of Legend. Bayley landed on top of legend instead and Valkyria held down Legend’s boot to make sure she didn’t kick out. Bayley got the three count. These three teams, plus the Bella Twins will fight at WrestleMania 42 for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. The Bella’s were not involved in this because Nikki Bella is nursing her sprained ankle.

Another match at WrestleMania is AJ Lee defending the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title against Becky Lynch. Filmed earlier in the day, Michael Cole sat down with Lee to discuss the upcoming match and asked her how she was feeling. Lee said it is a lot and it is surreal, but before too long, Becky Lynch would interrupt the interview. Cole left as he was not wanting to take part in whatever Lynch had to say.

Lynch took Lee back to Lee’s last WrestleMania, which was 11 years ago. She recalled a moment backstage when Lee greeted her with her “fake niceness” and a hug. Becky also mentioned that AJ was aware she would take Lee’s place. Lynch emphasized that WrestleMania would be different from the Elimination Chamber, where Lee had the homefield advantage, as WrestleMania is Lynch’s homefield.

Lee urged her to continue underestimating her. She expressed pride in Lynch, but Lynch responded by asking her not to condescend  her. The champion acknowledged her happiness  in Lynch for her contributions to the women in the locker room and the industry, yet emphasized that none of this would have been possible without Lee.

Lee pushes back saying that all the heights that Lynch soared to, she shattered the glass ceilings, and the doors that Lynch ran through, Lee knocked them down for her. She says she knows exactly who she is because after 10 years, she still got the call and the fans still remember who she is. She is the Intercontinental Champion, she is your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler….and when Lynch tucks her baby girl in and asks her who her favorite wrestler is, she’s not going to say Becky Lynch. She’s going to say AJ Lee.

A vignette aired for the Women’s World Champion, Stephanie Vaquer. She responded to Liv Morgan’s verbal attack on her mother and then the physical attack she received last week when Roxanne Perez came back and ambushed her.

Later in the night while Morgan and Perez were talking about the elephant in the room – Finn Balor,

Vaquer jumped Morgan from behind knocking her face first into Perez’s face (likely really knocking Perez out). She then threw Morgan into the TV.

Lastly, the advertised match of the night happened between a reunited RHIYO taking on the yet to be named Baddies – Michin and B-Fab. The WWE Women’s Champion, Jade Cargill, was at ringside. Cargill made sure her presence was known as she took Rhea Ripley off the ring apron deep into the match so that IYO SKY could not make the tag. Michin missed SKY and landed herself into the ring post leaving B-Fab to try and put SKY away, however, SKY countered and got the pin.

RHIYO may have been victorious once again as a team, but it wouldn’t be the last laugh. The numbers game was too much as B-Fab and Michin held Ripley back in the corner making her watch what was about to happen. Cargill took the kendo stick and decimated SKY with it.

As the trio left the ring, Ripley crawled over to SKY to comfort her.

A vignette aired for Asuka pointed at SKY, and more of that can be read here. Including SKY’s response.
