Man arrested for stalking Sonya Deville causing her to flee from home

It has been reported that Sonya Deville has been the victim of stalking as a man by the name of Phillip A. Thomas is accused for breaking into her house in Lutz, Fla. Thomas, from South Carolina was arrested early Sunday for the stalking and attempting kidnapping of Deville. Apparently, he has been planning this attempt for the abduction as early as eight months ago according the the Sheriff’s Office.

According to Tampa Bay Times via a news release by the Sheriff’s Office, Thomas parked his car at a local church and walked to the home. “He cut a hole in the patio screen and remained there for three to four hours while watching and listening through the windows,” says Kavitha Surana from Tampa Bay Times.

The report further states that at 2:43 a.m. after she had gone to bed, the suspect entered the home which activated the alarm. Deville looked out of the window, spotted the intruder and fled with her guest in a vehicle. She then contacted the authorities.

When authorities arrived Thomas was still in the home. He had the following on him: a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace and more. He says he was planning to take the homeowner hostage.

Thomas is being charge with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. He is being held without bail.

As stated earlier, Thomas had stalked Deville on social media. His Twitter account is reported to having mainly messages about her latest activities and retweets. There were also tweets between him and a psychiatrist asking for advice on something he may do that determines what happens next in his life.

Hillsborough County’s Sheriff Chad Chronister said the following in the news release, “Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years. It’s frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”

Fellow WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil spoke with ABC Action News and had the following to say about the incident after speaking with Deville:

“I have spoken to her and I’m glad she’s safe and I’m thankful and grateful that the sheriff’s office took care of the situation immediately. Celebrity status aside this is sickening. I am a product of a sexual assault and have zero-tolerance or respect for any human being that would violate a person’s privacy and or personal space,” said O’Neil.

Deville will be facing Mandy Rose at SummerSlam in a Hair vs. Hair match on Aug. 23 in Orlando, Fla.

Diva Dirt sends their well wishes to Deville after this horrifying incident. Thankfully she appears to be safe.

Update: Sonya responded to the incident on her Twitter.
