Marina Shafir reportedly released by WWE

WWE is making another round of cuts.

Although the names are plenty, at this time one woman has been released and that is NXT Superstar Marina Shafir. The news was originally reported by PWInsider.

She was one of the MMA Four Horsewomen and follows the release of another, Jessamyn Duke, who was let go earlier this month. Her background is in MMA.

Shafir was last seen in the ring partnered with Zoey Stark during the Dusty Cup in January. Prior to that, she was on the short-lived RAW Underground. Shafir and Duke were in NXT together as a tag team and were by the side of Shayna Baszler when Baszler was NXT Women’s Champion. Shafir was frequently utilized at live events.

She signed with WWE in 2018 and made her on-screen debut along with Duke interfering in a match between Baszler and Kairi Sane for the NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution.

According to PWInsider:

“WWE had been planning to change her official ring name and there had been some pitches for the new name over the last few weeks, so there had been plans in the works for her, so this one has to be seen as surprising.”

Diva Dirt wishes Marina Shafir the best in whatever she may pursue in her future.
