The Oct. 20 episode of Raw gave hometown girl Maxxine Dupri a shot at the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in Sacramento, Calif. After receiving a count out victory two weeks ago against the champion Becky Lynch, Dupri was afforded this opportunity.
Dupri continues to impress more and more every match she puts on. And in this match she didn’t disappoint. She had many near falls on Lynch and had a great counter getting out of an armbar, transitioning it into an ankle lock. She also paid homage to the Divas as she landed both a K2 and a Chick Kick to Lynch.
The final moments of the match didn’t fair so well for Maxxine though. She came out with the win, but only by DQ. Lynch hit Dupri in the back with the IC belt. The Man would continue to issue pain to Dupri after the match, and unfortunately no one (ahem AJ Lee) came out to save her.
In a backstage segment, Paul Heyman attempted to continue his relationship with Lynch despite The Vision turning on her husband, Seth Rollins, last week. Lynch let the Penguin know where she stands and that is she never has liked him and Rollins expected this to happen.
A second match took place between the Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer and Roxanne Perez. This was a non title match. Some fun stats that were provided by commentary is that heading into this match, Vaquer is the most winningest WWE Superstar this year regardless of gender at 25. Perez had her own stats as being tied for the most TV matches so far this year at 41. Tied with LA Knight.
Perez was looking for a win here so she could throw her hat in the ring to face Vaquer for the title. Even with Raquel Rodriguez’s help on multiple occasions, Vaquer picked up the win with Angel Wings. During the match, Perez was focused on the left arm of Vaquer.
Post match, The Judgment Day went after Vaquer but Nikki Bella made a return after several weeks away to make the save. She cleared Rodriguez over the top rope before taking shots at Perez. After Rodriguez entered the ring and took down Nikki, Vaquer attempted a springboard off the top rope but did slip. Eventually, The Judgment Day would retreat.
Moments later, Nikki and Vaquer were talking backstage. Vaquer thanked her and said she owes her one. Nikki says she has made two new enemies and will likely need the help. Vaquer responds saying she has her back.
A vignette for the Kabuki Warriors aired. They mocked Rhea Ripley and seemed to perhaps be moving on from IYO SKY for some reason. They stated they will be going after tag team gold. Asuka noted that Kairi Sane has embraced the side of herself she has been waiting for her to.
Bayley will have a birthday present for Lyra Valkyria next week.
