Maya World, the It Girl, proved all of her hard work is paying off as she pulled off the upset on the June 10 episode of Dynamite. She advanced to the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Cup as a last minute replacement for Sareee against Skye Blue.
Maya filled in for Sareee after just finding out the news that her brother passed away.
With this win, she now is ready to face her teacher and former mentor Athena in the semi-finals. Athena, who is nearing 1,300 days as the forever ROH Women’s Champion didn’t mince any words with Maya on the June 13 Collision.
Athena responded to a vignette by Maya who says that her former mentor taught her everything she knows. However, Athena says that Maya may have learned everything from her but that doesn’t mean she has taught her everything.
Athena has a match against Tierra James immediately after the backstage promo. She defeats James, but Maya comes out for the save. As Maya was checking on James, Athena went on the attack and planted her on top of the ROH Women’s Title belt.
In past Owen Hart Cup’s, Athena has not made it past the second round. Will she be able to do it this time, or will it be Maya’s time?
They will face each other next week on Collision. The other side of the bracket has Mercedes Moné against Hazuki. Who will make it to the finals at Forbidden Door?
