STARDOM original, Mayu Iwatani, has confirmed her exit from the company.
Iwatani debuted for the promotion on its inaugural show back in January of 2011. This news has come out just 24 hours after Iwatani’s two-year reign as NJPW IWGP Women’s Champion came to an end at All Star Grand Queendom on Sunday. She lost the title to Syuri. This served as her last match in STARDOM.
Iwatani’s massive accomplishments with STARDOM are as follows:
- 2x World of Stardom Champion
- 2x Wonder of Stardom Champion
- NJPW IWGP Women’s Champion
- 2x Goddesses of Stardom Champion
- 5x Artist of Stardom Champion
- High-Speed Champion
- SWA World Champion
- 2x Cinderella Tournament Winner
- Second Grand Slam Champion
- 5STAR Grand Prix Winner
- Goddesses of Stardom Tag League Winner
- First to ever hold the World and Wonder of Stardom Titles at the same time
Iwatani posted the following after her loss on Sunday.
I was unable to defend the IWGP title for the 10th time.
It’s frustrating. It’s frustrating. I’m sorry, thank you for the past two years.
