Tonight on AEW Dynamite, we continue with the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament as we make our way towards Forbidden Door.
First, we catch up with Stardom’s Starlight Kid, who challenges for Thekla’s AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door. Starlight Kid hopes to take the title back to Japan, but Thekla is determined to keep spitting all over Stardom on her home turf.
In the semifinals tonight, Stardom’s Hazuki will take on an old opponent of hers, Mercedes Moné. These two have met before and have had certified classics together in an NJPW ring. But tonight, they face off in an AEW ring as they are one step closer to the finals.
Hazuki takes The CEO off her feet, and Moné tries to back off as she takes a closer look at what she’s fighting for. Moné comes back and lunges her knees into Hazuki. She then sets up Hazuki on the ropes to hit a Meteora, but only to get a two-count.
Moné gets caught on the ropes, and Hazuki lands a hard DDT on the apron to take it back. With Moné dazed, Hazuki hits three straight dives through the ropes to the outside. Hazuki hits a Missile Dropkick and tries to make The CEO tap out. The CEO escapes and tries to hit the Three Amigos, albeit very winded. She fails to hit the third one as Hazuki escapes to the entrance ramp, but this allows Moné to hit a hard Meteora.
Hazuki beats down on Moné after Moné’s knee gets caught on the rope. The Stardom standout drives her knees into The CEO and follows up by going high risk. She then tries to make Moné tap, but neither is giving up this chance as they both batter each other down.
Moné is taking a beating from Hazuki, but saves herself from rolling to the outside. She lands a hard lungeblower onto Hazuki as they both try to fight for the pin. The CEO tries to look for a finish, but Hazuki reverses every moment. At long last, Moné hits the double knees and locks in the Statement Maker as Hazuki is forced to tap out. Moné now makes it to the Owen Hart Cup finals for a second year in a row.
On Collision this Saturday, Maya World will take on the Ring of Honor Women’s Champion, Athena, in a semifinals match for the Owen Hart Cup. World has the opportunity of a lifetime, but Athena is determined not to make the same mistakes this year.
