Mercedes Moné Is The Undisputed ROH Women’s TV Champion; Two Teams Advance In Tag Title Tournament

It’s a double-duty episode of both AEW Dynamite and Collision tonight, and we look to see the proving grounds here as we head into Full Gear this Saturday.

The Babes of Wrath, Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale, have advanced in the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title Tournament and are ready to take on their semifinal match against the Sisters of Sin.

The Timeless Love Bombs, “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa, make a grand new entrance as they are set to compete in a quarterfinal match in the tag title tournament. Despite being a little bruised from the Blood & Guts match, they face a new challenge in Alex Windsor and Riho.

The joshis start off the match, and both teams look to be on an even playing field. With some assistance from Windsor, Riho hits a crossbody on Love Bombs to gain the advantage.

Shirakawa takes out both Riho and Windsor with some unique offense and gets the hot tag out to Storm. She locks Riho in a figure four leglock, but Storm and Windsor decide to do a little flip-flop.

With the Timeless Love Bombs now in sync with the hip attacks, Storm hits the Storm Zero to advance to the semifinals.

The arguably dominant forces of Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir team up tonight in the tag team title tournament to take on TayJay, Tay Melo and Anna Jay. Many consider TayJay one of the original tag teams in the AEW women’s division. But, with a win at Blood & Guts, Bayne and Shafir look to wreck havoc.

Shafir and Melo get into a judo match of sorts, and TayJay’s team work gets the best of the other team early on.

However, through sheer force, Shafir chokes out Jay and kisses her goodnight to advance in the tournament.

With the semi-finals set, the last remaining four teams will now go to Full Gear and compete in a four-way match to determine a match stipulation for the winners’ semifinal match.  This team will now face Storm and Shirakawa, and the Timeless Love Bombs have a message for their future opponents ahead of Full Gear.

And with the Sisters of Sins advancing in the tournament, and along with Thekla, they warn the other competitors what they’re up against.

Kris Statlander is set to defend her AEW Women’s World Championship at Full Gear, and she has a special message and a seat at tonight’s main event featuring “The CEO.”

The ROH Women’s World Television Champion, Red Velvet, is back in action from injury as she takes on the Interim ROH World Women’s TV Champion, Mercedes Moné, in a unification match. With a Boston homecoming on Moné’s side, Velvet has a huge challenge ahead of her.

Velvet is not ready to let the title go and ferociously takes it to Moné in the early onset of the match. The CEO hits Velvet with a Meteora to the outside and showboats with the titles as Moné shoves Velvet into Statlander. But, as they brawl to the ring, Velvet takes some inspiration from Moné’s idol, Eddie Guerrero.

The longest reigning ROH Women’s TV Champion keeps bringing the fight to Moné and lands a sunset flip powerbomb from the top rope. Moné survives, and as the two head to the top rope again, Moné hits a super lungblower to become the undefined champion.

Post-match, Moné rubs the win in Statlander’s face and gives a Meteora for her troubles heading into Full Gear.
