On this Holiday Bash edition of AEW Dynamite, someone looks to take the gold back home to their Christmas trees tonight.
In tonight’s opening contest, Anna Jay finally has her shot at Mercedes Moné’s TBS Championship tonight. Moné had just defended her NJPW Strong Women’s Championship against Hazuki at NJPW’s Strong Style Evolved this past Sunday. The Double Champ looks to remain #TwoBeltzMoné heading into Wrestle Dynasty against Stardom’s Mina Shirakawa but has to get past a tenacious Jay first.
Moné starts off with slapping the taste of out Jay’s mouth, but Jay looks to put up a fight here tonight. Moné turns it up with Three Amigos and goes for a Frog Splash, but Jay finds a small opening. However, Jay’s tenacity is met with Moné’s experienced ring work.
Moné heads for a Double Knees in the corner, but Jay dodges and goes for a Blockbuster. Jay bashes Moné in the corner with some kicks and follows up her attacks with a Gory Buster. Jay goes for the cover, but Moné manages to break the ropes.
Jay looks to finish Moné off with a Body Scissors, but Moné desperately bites the arm of Jay. Moné goes for the Statement Maker, but Jay tries to find a way for a quick rollup. Unfortunately for the challenger, she gets Sunset Powerbombed into the corner as Moné hits the Moné Maker to retain her title.
Meanwhile, Kris Statlander is backstage observing the match very closely.
After Julia Hart’s attack on Jamie Hayter at Collision, Hayter has some choice words for Hart and has set a challenge for her at Fight For The Fallen.
Next, we hear from AEW Women’s World Champion, Mariah May, as a week from Saturday she’s involved in a Tijuana Street Fight against Thunder Rosa. May makes things personal by mentioning Rosa’s family who will be attending.
Finally, RJ City looks to get some answers from Toni Storm about her recent return, or rather “debut” this past week. And it seems that “Toni Time” has just begun in AEW.
