Tonight is the go-home AEW Dynamite before Double or Nothing this Sunday, and the women look to send one final message to their competitors before the big pay-per-view.
During the night, Willow Nightingale gets involved in an all-out brawl with The Deathriders’ Marina Shafir. This Sunday at Double or Nothing both women will take part in a huge tag team match as it’s Anarchy in the Arena.
Competing in the finals for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament are “The CEO” Mercedes Moné and Jamie Hayter. Moné has been dodging Hayter any chance she gets, but tonight meet in the same ring for a face-to-face.
Renee Paquette looks to moderate between the finalists but of course, things get heated. Despite being considered being the underdog in this match, Hayter says that this more than just the cup and the championship shot, it’s about not being forgotten.
Moné isn’t worried as she’s the “revolution” and that her legacy will continue while Hayter’s chapter ends.
Hayter says that there’s something different about Moné tonight, and it’s the fact that she lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship a couple of weeks ago. This strikes a nerve and Moné snaps on Hayter. Just as Moné is about to lay it in on her, Hayter strikes back with a Hayterade.
In comes the AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm, who is on commentary for the next match coming up.
However, this is not the end for “The CEO” as tomorrow night on a special Collision, Moné will defend her TBS Championship in an open challenge against CMLL’s Reyna Isis.
After a win in a four-way Eliminator match last week, Mina Shirakawa battles for the AEW Women’s World Championship this Sunday but has to get through Julia Hart tonight in our main event.
Shirakawa’s joshi style is a lot for Hart to keep up with, but the flashy Shirakawa turns her back on Hart for a moment.
Hart locks in a hold on the ropes, but Shirakawa plants a backfist to Hart’s skull. She attempts to go high-risk, but Hart jams her knee on the way down. After knocking the air out of Hart, Shirakawa pins her up for the win.
Post-match, Hart attacks Shirakawa, but the sore loser gets trapped in a figure-four leglock. In to make the save is Hart’s best friend, Skye Blue.
The Women’s World Champion has seen enough and decides to save Shirakawa. Despite the help, it seems as though Shirakawa only has her eyes locked on the championship. Things get feisty as the two go at it, only for Shirakawa to lock in a figure-four on the ring post.
