WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony this year had to be incredibly different in many ways. Without a live crowd, the ceremony was taped at the Thunderdome in St. Petersburg, Fla. It included both the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021. The Bella Twins were the inductees from last year while Molly Holly took the spot for the women this year.
The Bella Twins thanked many women who went through the highest points of their careers with them. This included such names as Nattie, Alicia Fox, Team B.A.D. (Sasha Banks, Naomi, and Tamina), and Team P.C.B (Paige, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch).
Molly Holly gave a lot of credit to the crew and the unsung heroes of the industry after opening her (short) speech with a joke at the expense of Vince McMahon.
Molly has provided her full induction speech in a WWE Exclusive which was uploaded to YouTube which can be seen below.
Ethel Johnson also received the Legacy induction for 2021. Johnson debuted at the age of 16 years old and she is the first African American female wrestler. She is credited as one of the first women’s wrestlers to perform a standing dropkick in her matches and including variations of the flying headscissors. Johnson faced popular wrestlers at the time included June Byers, Penny Banner, and even challenged Mildred Burke for the NWA World Women’s Title.
Throughout the ceremony, several women from the locker room joined the red carpet to discuss how The Bella Twins and Molly Holly have been impactful to them as well as the men who were inducted. These women included Bayley, Bianca Belair, SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, Mandy Rose, Dana Brooke, Carmella, Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, Rhea Ripley, Naomi, and Lana.
Banks spoke about when she first met Molly when she was a teenager and how Molly told her that she was certainly going to make it as a wrestler. And look at The Boss now!
Below are some photos from red carpet looks –
Another huge congrats to The Bella Twins, Molly Holly, and the Legacy induction of Ethel Johnson. Diva Dirt thanks you for everything that you have done for the industry.
