New NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Crowned At Great American Bash

This week’s NXT 2.0 was The Great American Bash and NEW champions were crowned.

Toxic Attraction has been dethroned and Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade are the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. This is the first gold for both women in NXT. Perez & Jade earned this championship opportunity by defeating Kayden Carter & Katana Chance in a number one contenders match last week.

The final moments of the championship match had Jade spear Jacy Jayne out of the ring leaving Perez and Gigi Dolin as the legal competitors. Perez executed Pop Rox after a roundhouse kick to get the pin and the victory.

Dolin & Jayne were in their second reign as champions and it came to an end at 91-days. Their second reign combined with their first reign makes them the longest reigning champions at 249-days. Perez & Jade are the sixth team to win the belts since their inception in March 2021.

By defeating Carter & Chance to face Toxic Attraction, Perez still has her contract for a championship opportunity she won from the Breakout Tournament. Backstage as she and Jade were celebrating their win, she confirmed she will challenge the NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose next week. She wants to take the title off of Rose to take down all of Toxic Attraction once and for all.

Rose had a response later in the night saying that Dolin & Jayne will win their titles back. She says Perez is running on adrenaline and that she is making a mistake going after her for the NXT Women’s Title. Rose claims that Perez will not beat her just as Jade hasn’t in the past. However, Rose’s last words say that Perez may not even make it to their match.

The second women’s match on The Great American Bash was Tiffany Stratton facing Wendy Choo. After getting a near fall from a Brainbuster, Choo went for a German Suplex but Stratton got out of it and landed a missile dropkick. Stratton picked up the victory with her corkscrew splash in the corner.

Also on this week’s NXT there was a Thea Hail segment with Chase U and a verbal altercation between Tatum Paxley and Carter/Chance. Ivy Nile was being interviewed backstage and noticed the three women yelling at one another. She separated the women and told Paxley she will have to start learning how to get herself out of her messes. Nile told Paxley to meet her in the dojo in the morning.
