Lacey Evans has had a rough return to WWE following her maternity leave. The return of Evans started after WrestleMania 38 in April when vignettes started airing about her emotional past and the strength she has pulled from her real-life story.
Shortly after the series of vignettes aired she was moved back and forth between SmackDown to Raw and then back to SmackDown where she is currently. She suffered match cancellations. And along with all of this, she started out returning as a babyface and eventually turned heel. The direction for her return was certainly all over the place.
She participated in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match and then would spend the following weeks turning heel and cutting promos on how she was being “disrespected” by the WWE Universe while avoiding matches with Aliyah. Aliyah was finally set to have a match with her two weeks ago but Evans was replaced in that match by Shotzi and commentary simply said she wasn’t medically cleared.
Fans started questioning the whereabouts of Evans once again on this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown when she was the one woman of the blue brand left out of the number one contender Gauntlet Match.
So what is going on with Lacey Evans?
According to a report by Fightful Select, their sources say that there are no immediate creative plans for her and she wasn’t discussed as being in the gauntlet match. Those that they spoke to added that Evans was a personal favorite of Vince McMahon who worked directly with Evans as she came to Raw. However, Fightful was told that her return this year was “chaotic and directionless,” as that was obvious from how it played out on TV.
As of the time of this writing, there is no word, now that McMahon is no longer in charge when Evans will return to TV.
Diva Dirt will provide any further updates if they occur.
