Nikki Bella Issues Challenge To Becky Lynch; Women’s Tag Team Titles Rematch

This week’s Raw was the fall out from SummerSlam. The only women’s title to change hands at that event was the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are the new champions as they defeated The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez).

The new champions took to the ring and continued their “frenemies” type act between them. Flair took Bliss’ title and claimed herself as champion while Bliss took it back and confirmed “they” are champions. Flair even almost said that they may be “friends” if Bliss would stop hitting her in the head, referencing the inadvertant punch delivered by Bliss to Flair in their match on Saturday.

Not much longer from this, we had the former champs make their way out. Rodriguez and Perez mocked the new champs questioning who would want to be friends with Flair anyway. They then would request a rematch as Adam Pearce emerged and granted it.

The final moments of the match had Flair tag in Bliss. Rodriguez was laid out on the outside as Perez pulled Bliss down from the apron. Perez tossed Flair out of the ring and went to do a suicide dive onto her. However, Bliss got back in the ring and caught Perez in Sister Abigail. Bliss pinned Perez to retain the gold for CharBliss (we really need a team name).

A backstage moment took place between Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. With all things considered, Bayley cost Valkyria the Women’s IC Title match on Sunday. This means that Valkyria can’t fight for the title again as long as Becky Lynch remains champion. Bayley tried to apologize, but Valkyria wasn’t having it. She is tired of the Bayley vortex. She adds that they aren’t friends, they aren’t enemies, she just wants her to out of her life.

Speaking of Lynch, she would later take to the ring and talk about her victory. She says she intends to be champion for a long time and with that, she needs new challengers. However, she didn’t want to get into it tonight.

Nikki Bella on the other hand did want to get into it as her music hit and she made her way to the ring. Nikki says she was listening to what Lynch had to say while she was backstage just then. And Nikki agrees, that Becky is ONE of the greatest of all time, to which the champ corrects her saying she is actually THEE greatest.

Nikki says that she felt comfortable when Becky was called up to the main roster. Comfortable that she was able to step back a little bit and that the women’s division would be in good hands. Lynch thanks Nikki for the compliment only for the Hall of Famer to then say that Lynch was actually such a disappointment.

The two would go on to trade insults back and forth and Nikki even tossed in the fact that Lynch is a liar just like Seth Rollins. Lynch says her and her hot husband are the greatest wrestling couple of all time, a title that Nikki used to have with….someone she “can’t see” anymore.

Nikki would eventually set the challenge for Lynch’s IC Title. The two have never gone one-on-one before despite their history in multi women matches in the past. Lynch started to explain the reason why that’s never happened but she laid a cheap shot to Nikki ending the segment.

Backstage, and moments later, The Dungeon Dolls and Akira Tozawa were together. Natalya questioned Becky Lynch and what has gotten into her and what she did to Nikki was wrong. Natalya challenged Becky to a match next week. Becky agreed…to a match, but against Maxxine.

Following her SummerSlam loss, IYO SKY will take on Naomi for the Women’s World Championship next week. A backstage segment had set thus up. SKY was talking to the Kabuki Warriors as Asuka and Kairi Sane offered to help her regain the title. SKY said thanks but no thanks. Rhea Ripley approached and asked to speak with SKY. Ripley mentioned how she knows that SKY asked for a one-on-one title match. SKY reminded Ripley that she wasn’t the one to be pinned. Ripley says that she hopes SKY wins so she can the title off of her, but SKY says that Ripley will never beat her.

The match between SKY and Naomi is set for the Aug. 10 episode of Raw. The winner will go on to face Stephanie Vaquer at Clash in Paris. Vaquer and Naomi had a backstage segement where Naomi promises to remain champion for their match. She let Vaquer know that at Clash she will shove her horns so far up her behind she will be leaving with a limp.

During a commercial break, Naomi mocks Brooklyn and calls Stephanie Vaquer, “Stephanie Velcro.”
