Nikki Bella took on Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Title at Survivor Series this past weekend. However, in the weeks leading up to the match, you’d barely know we were getting it. The match wasn’t advertised much and besides a heel turn by Nikki, the rivalry didn’t even exist on screen.
While on the Nikki & Brie Show podcast, Nikki discussed how the spot on the card was in a difficult spot and how she was simply told she had to be super heelish.
“I knew where we were at on the card. We were in the difficult spot. I knew we weren’t going to have a lot of time, and we had to tell a specific story. For me, the one thing that I was told was, ‘We need super heelish.’ What they realized going into it was, if you didn’t watch the past few weeks, you would have no idea that I was a heel. They were afraid that I might go out and be a babyface. The nice thing is that we had a package before that showed my heel turn. They were like, ‘We need heel Nikki.’ I haven’t been heel Nikki since before I broke my neck and I’m like, ‘Damn, I’m doing all these things in the moment live.’ It’s one thing when you’re doing all the live events and you can change things. This is what I told myself, ‘We’re doing bad bitch energy. At the end of the day, it’s all about confidence and when your music hits, you’re going to go out there and have all that confidence. You’re going to be this person and that’ll get you into that moment. Go as slow as you want doing your walk. You own it.”
Nikki has mentioned on her social media that she wants a rematch against Vaquer. There is also reports from the Wrestling Observer that Nikki may be used as a heel manager later down the road.
