Raquel Gonzalez has been tearing through NXT as of late. In a recent interview, NXT’s biggest rising star spoke about the match she believes put her on the map.
Speaking about the match with Wrestling Inc, Gonzalez said;
“It opened a lot of people’s eyes. It opened their eyes to something I already knew, which is that I belong in the ring with the best.”
Gonzalez is in the midst of a meteoric rise to the top of NXT’s women’s division. The winner of the most recent WarGames match credits her match against Rhea Ripley at Halloween Havoc of the beginning of her career trajectory.
“Rhea Ripley is one of the best. Io Shirai is one of the best. Both of them have competed on big stages on Raw and WrestleMania. That Halloween Havoc match put me on the map and showed that I can handle my own and Raquel González is not just ‘Big Mommy Cool’ González is here to make a statement. And that statement is that I can be your next NXT women’s champ. I could be your next Raw or SmackDown women’s champ.”
Raquel Gonzalez signed with NXT in 2017 and was apart of both Mae Young Classic tournaments. She would lose in the first round on both occasions. At NXT TakeOver: Portland in February, she would cost Tegan Nox her match against Dakota Kai in a shock appearance.
Gonzalez would be portrayed as Kai’s bodyguard/muscle but it was clear that she was so much more than an insurance policy. Over the period of this year, she has improved greatly and as her recent performance prove she is a force to be reckoned with in NXT.
