RAW Discussion Post: Qualifying Matches set for Money in the Bank 06.21.21

Hell in a Cell is over and Rhea Ripley is still the RAW Women’s Champion. She cost herself a disqualification which allowed Charlotte Flair to win the match, but not walk out as champion. It appears that their rivalry is far from over as it is expected to carry until at least the next pay-per-view.

Speaking of the next pay-per-view, it is a fan favorite and that is Money in the Bank. Last year, as a result of the pandemic, the women’s MITB match was done along with the men in a unique cinematic approach at WWE headquarters. This year, things should be back to normal.

Saying back to normal may warrant a revisit as we see the qualifying matches set for tonight. In a way that WWE just draws names out of a hat, we have two qualifying matches on the show which weirdly are tag team bouts.

The first is Nikki Cross teaming with Alexa Bliss to take on Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. The second, we will see Eva Marie and her “mystery Superstar” Piper Niven against Naomi and Asuka. Why they just didn’t team Asuka with Nikki Cross as they have been doing lately I will never understand. The winning duo of both matches will qualify. Assuming we are getting then eight women for the MITB match when it comes to SmackDown qualifiers?

Eva Marie debuted last week and instead of her getting in the ring she sent in NXT UK’s Piper Niven who made her RAW debut. Commentary did not provide a name for Niven which means she will be receiving a new name. It has been reported that WWE has trademarked the name Doudrop for her. Niven made short work of Naomi as Eva Marie stated she herself won the match when she didn’t participate.

On the Hell in a Cell Kick off who on Sunday, Natalya defeated Mandy Rose. The “Sexy Muscle Barbies” are knocking on the door for a tag team title match. What will we see between Rose & Dana Brooke and the tag champs of Natalya and Tamina tonight?

What will go down on this week’s RAW as we head towards Money in a Bank on July 18? That event will also be the first pay-per-view to have live fans back in attendance.
