REWIND: Chyna Challenges For The WWF Light Heavyweight Title

In the late 1990’s and into the 2000’s, WWF did not shy away from intergender wrestling. With that being said, the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship in 2000 was held predominantly by Dean Malenko. Malenko spent 322 as a champion in his second-reign. He defended it 23 times in that time frame and not only against other men.

Malenko was challenged by Jacqueline, Lita, and twice by Chyna.

Upon the second challenge on Raw during the July 17, 2000 episode, Malenko retained via count out. It would be Perry Saturn that would emerge and take out Eddie Guerrero which caused Chyna to leave the match and help her beau on the ramp. Saturn would then return to the stage to align himself with Terri.

Although Chyna did not capture the Light Heavyweight Title, she did become the only woman to hold the WWF/E Intercontinental Championship.
